The Academy Awards: As told by Twitter

Last night was the best night of the entire year. All the celebrities, the best of the best, came out to play and so did peoples tweets. For my recap of last nights awards show, I will be explaining it through one of the most popular forms of social media today- Twitter.

1. “MAD MAX YES”- @briyonce16

This was tweeted right before Mad Max: Fury Road began to sweep the competition and take home more than 5 awards! I’m so glad I was able to see the film before the show so I could understand what all the hype was about!

2. “These Kohl’s commercials are killin’ it lol” – @briyonce16

If you were watching but weren’t really paying attention, these commercials are the hilarious ones where the people were giving acceptance speeches for recieving ordinary things. One played almost every commercial break and I must say, money well spent Kohl’s!

3. “Tom Hardy was jipped :’-(” – @briyonce16

For Best Actor in a Supporting Role, I was sure Tom Hardy was going to take home the trophy. He had a great year, starring in Mad Max and playing along side DiCaprio in The Revenant. It’s okay, my love, we will get you one next year!

4. “Okay, everyone is crying now *insert crying emoji*” – @briyonce16

After Lady Gaga’s performance of her song from the film, The Hunting Ground, the crowd erupted into a standing ovation and into a puddle of tears. Gaga has had a great year so far with her National Anthem performance at the Super Bowl, David Bowie tribute at the Grammy’s and this knock out performance at the Oscars. She’s deserves an Oscar for the Best Comeback Kid.

5. “The nominees are- Leonardo DiCaprio, Leonardo DiCaprio, Leonardo DiCaprio. And the winner is- *opens envelope* Mad Max: Fury Road”- @vvolfsz

As much as I DID NOT want something like this too happen, I got a good kick out of this joke! This was tweeted right after Mad Max had won almost all of the awards it was nominated for and right before they announced who won Best Actor.

6. “NOBODY CUT LEO OFF WITH MUSIC LET HIM HAVE THIS MOMENT FOR AS LONG AS HE WANTS” – @carlyanneolio

Leo finally did it!!! The crowd was on their feet as everyone cheered at home! Long over due and just as I predicted, this was Leo’s year to take home his own golden statue. He can no longer be a “meme” joke but that’s fine with me! I’m just so happy he finally got the recognition he deserves!
